Alice Irene Henning

Alice Henning, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Byrnes) Mickelson, was born on May 15, 1930 in Tracy, MN.  She grew up on a farm near Currie, MN and attended school at the IHM Catholic Elementary and High School in Currie. Alice was united in marriage to Donald Henning on August 4, 1948 at IHM Catholic Church in Currie.  After their marriage they lived and farmed near Buffalo Lake, Dovray, Iona and Currie, MN. In 1960 they purchased a farm east of Iona, MN, where they lived and raised their children.  Alice remained on the farm after Don’s death in November of 2003.  Alice passed away at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the age of 82.  She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona and belonged to the Catholic Daughters.  Alice was a member of the Iona VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her four children, Nancy Henning of Arlington, TX, Dale (Angie) Henning of Welcome, MN, Ron (Julie) Henning of Lake Wilson, MN and Dawn (Dean) Schroeder of Cottonwood, MN; 5 grandsons, Paul Henning, Andy Henning, Jeff Henning, Dustin Von Arb and Cory Schreier and her Best Friend Babe Schoo of Fulda, MN.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don, son, Kevin and 2 brothers, Harold and Charles Mickelson.

Funeral Services

St. Columba Catholic Church Iona, MN at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 with Fr. James Seitz celebrating.  The organist is Sharon Lais. The song leader is Sheila Crowley.  The pallbearers are Paul Henning, Andy Henning, Jeff Henning, Dustin Von Arb, Cory Schreier and Andy Henning.  Interment at St. Columba Cemetery Iona, MN.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 PM with a 4:30 rosary and a 7 PM prayer service at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  The Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton is assisting the family with arrangements.
