Carol  Joyce  Johnson

Carol Johnson, the daughter of Willie “Bill” and Paulena “Lena” (Krueger) Sanow, was born on September 14, 1940 in Garvin, MN. She grew up in Fulda and attended school there, graduating from Fulda High School. Carol was united in marriage to the love of her life, Douglas Johnson on April 13, 1958 at the American Immanuel Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived in rural Avoca and she worked for Cambell’s Soup, the Slayton Auction Barn serving food and she waitressed at many places over the years.  Carol then worked at Toro for 28 years until she retired in 2005. In 1976 they moved into Avoca, MN where they made their home. Carol remained at home after Doug passed away in March of 2009. Carol passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Fulda at the age of 76. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca and served on the Nominating Committee and caring for flowers and plants for many years. Carol loved Christmas, spending time with her family, attending all of her grandkids and great-grandkids activities and events. She also enjoyed playing games, cards, traveling to Branson and Texas in the winter, and enjoying the company of the Chimi Gang.

Survivors include her children, Deborah (David) Fuller of Fulda, MN, Kevin (Deborah) Johnson of Fairfax, MN, Mark (Carol) Johnson of Springdale, AR and Kenneth (Faith) Johnson of Morton, MN; adopted daughter, Caren Voss and her family of Avoca, MN; grandchildren Troy (Hilary) Paplow, Cassandra (Gabe) Rasmussen, Ryan (Natashia) Johnson, Kami (fiancée, Sonny) Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Adam (fiancée, Brittany) Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Jenny Coelho and Jacob (Amanda) Garcia; great-grandchildren Aubree and Cole Paplow, Everlee Rasmussen, Jonathan Ladd and Tanner Mauer, Gavin, Gracie, Bethanie Johnson, Haley, Westin, Tyrin Coelho and Alexander and Cameron Garcia; brother, Denny Sanow of Fulda, MN; sisters-in-law, Diane Sanow of Fulda, MN and JoAnn Blanchard of Cannon Falls, MN; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Jessica, great-granddaughter, McKaila and brother, Pudge Sanow.

Funeral Services

Faith Lutheran Church Avoca, MN at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2016 with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.  The organist is Nancy Lee Pierson. The soloist is Gary Guggisberg. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Gabe Rasmussen, Natashia Johnson, Sonny Mauer, Jacob Garcia, Jenny Coelho and Brittany Lemcke. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
