Craig “Boone” Martin Olsem

Craig Olsem was born on May 9, 1982 in Worthington, Minnesota to Leo and Joan Schreier Olsem.  He grew up on the family farm near Dundee, MN. Boone was baptized, and received his first Holy Communion at his home parish of St. Mary’s Church in Dundee.  The family later joined St. Anthony’s Church in Westbrook, MN were he was Confirmed.  Boone was a 2001 graduate of Fulda High School.  Following high school he farmed with his father and brother.  In March 2014 Boone met the love of his life, Bethany Price and on June 4, 2016 he and Bethany were married at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN.  Following their marriage they made their home south of Westbrook.  Boone passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Westbrook Hospital at the age of 35.  He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Westbrook.  Boone enjoyed fishing, winter pool league, hunting, gardening, canning, smoking meats, camping, and going to the sale barn and consignment sales.  He was a wheeler and a dealer trying to make a buck.  His was happiest when he was spending time with, Bethany, his family and friends or teasing his nieces and nephews.  Boone was a very giving person in life as well as in death.  His final gift was being a donor.

Survivors include his wife, Bethany Olsem of Westbrook, MN, his parents, Leo and Joan Olsem of Dundee, MN, four siblings their spouses, Stacie and Radley Hennings of Brewster, MN, Andrea and David Reetz of Wilmont, MN, Ryan and Melissa Olsem of Westbrook, MN, and Kristina Olsem of Dundee, MN, maternal grandmother, Beverly Schreier of Slayton, MN, parents-in-law, Greg and Deb Price of Wabasso, MN, brother-in-law, Mitchell and Kaitlynn Price of Wabasso, MN, and sister-in-law, Mistin Price of Hopkins, MN, 13 nieces and nephews, Jaden, Cole, Tanner and Levi Hennings, Abigail, Morgan and Kierra Reetz, Owen, Truman, Ivan and Evelyn Olsem, RyAnne and Ella Price and several aunt, uncles and other and their families.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vincent Schreier, paternal grandparents, Martin and Katherine Olsem and one sister-in-law, Samantha Price.

Funeral Services

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Patty LeClaire.  The song Leader is LoAnn Hanson.  The pallbearers are Duane Swenhaugen, Paul Swenhaugen, Layne Arnold, Jason Schreier, Trent Meyeraan, Daniel Olsem, Pete Speilman and Scott Knudson.  The honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephew.  Interment is at Westbrook Cemetery in Westbrook, MN.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the IHM Church in Currie from 4-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
