Dorothy Jean Gilbertson

Dorothy Gilbertson, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Quillin) Hogan, was born on October 14, 1927 in Fulda, MN. She grew up on a farm near Fulda and attended country school and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1943. Dorothy was united in marriage to Richard Gilbertson on April 3, 1948 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived in Fulda their entire lives. Over the years she worked as a receptionist at the Fulda Clinic, a teller at Citizens State Bank and was the bookkeeper for their Fulda Skelly Service business for 25 years. Dorothy passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 89. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda where she belonged to the F.C.C.W and was a past president and she was a reader at masses held at the nursing home. Dorothy was also a member of the Fulda Library Board and was a voting judge in Murray County. She enjoyed her friends and family, reading, cross stitch, baking, cooking, crossword puzzles, bird watching, antiquing, coffee with her dear friends and long phone calls with her daughter, Suzanne.

Survivors include her husband Rich Gilbertson of Fulda, MN; daughter, Suzanne (Roger) Schwenn; 2 grandsons, Jeffrey (Kelly) Schwenn and their daughters, Kara and Paige Schwenn and Ryan and Angie Schwenn; sister-in-law, Agnes Hogan; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son, sister, Marjorie Maurer and brother, Leo Hogan.

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. Special music provided by Kelly Schwenn who is singing Silent Night, as a request of Dorothy, as it was her favorite song. The pallbearers are Jeffrey Schwenn, Ryan Schwenn, Ron Maurer, Gary Hogan, Mike Hogan and Mike Vortherms. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
