Eugene Charles Burch

Gene Burch was born on May 11, 1944 in Pipestone, MN to Duane and Elsie Quirk Burch. He grew up and attended school in Pipestone. He then attended Willmar Junior College and SSU in Marshall, MN. Gene moved to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO then to Ft. Lee, VA. He entered the US Army on March 29, 1962 and served until his honorable discharge on March 26, 1965. Gene returned to Pipestone to live until 1967 when he moved to Chicago. On February 3, 1968 he and Karen Clauson were married at the Hadley Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they lived in Chicago until 1971 when they moved to New London, MN and in 1973 they lived in the Lake Wilson and Chandler area. In 1977 they made their home in Slayton where they have lived since. Gene worked as a computer programmer for Finley Engineering Co. and CAD Consulting Services Inc. for many years. Gene entered the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on September 24, 2007 due to failing health and passed away on November 15, 2007 at the age of 63. He attended Hadley Lutheran Church in Hadley, MN. Gene enjoyed rollerblading daily with the two family dogs, canoeing, riding his Harley, woodworking, keeping up with current events, political chat on the internet and spending time with his two grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Burch of Slayton, MN, two children and their spouses, Beth Ann and Troy Winter of Slayton, MN and Chris and Melissa Burch of Fulda, MN, two grandsons, Mason Burch and Tyler Winter, one sister, Barb Breuer and her husband, Gil of Slayton, MN and two brothers, Randy Burch and his wife, Kathy of Remer, MN and Duane Burch and his special friend, Ida of Kenora, Canada. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob Burch.

Funeral Services

Hadley Lutheran Church Hadley, MN on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Kerry Boese officiating. Music by Heidi Winter. The pallbearers are Bob Gaalswyk, Mike Kelly, Gil Breuer, Tom Burch, Randy Burch and Bryan Breuer. Interment at Highland Home Cemetery Hadley, MN.
