In Loving Memory Of
George Nicholas Isder
George Nicholas Isder, the son of Fred and Dorothy (Jans) Isder, was born on March 15, 1926 in Belfast Township, Murray County, MN.  He grew up on several farms and attended District 40 Country School. On November 16, 1945, George enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as Military Police in the Philippines until he was honorably discharged.  George married Lydia (Lucht) Isder on February 1, 1948 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN.  During their marriage, they lived and farmed north of Fulda.  George and Lydia lovingly raised their two children while participating in inter-racial exchange programs and caring for troubled teens.  Lydia passed away in May of 1995.  On September 6, 1998, George married Anne (Krause) Miller in Fairmont, MN and they lived on the farm by Fulda.  At the age of 86, George passed away at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN on October 1, 2012.
George was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda and a former long-time member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Avoca, MN.  He was also an active member of the Avoca American Legion Post #576 and a lifetime member of the Fulda VFW Post #9017.  George enjoyed serving on the Murray County Fair Board for 34 years.  Throughout his life, George also enjoyed hunting, sports, water skiing, restoring old tractors and inventing.  He especially loved fishing and often traveled with buddies throughout the upper Midwest and Canada.  George was a jovial “Santa’s Helper” for many years and he will be fondly remembered by children of all ages.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Isder of Fulda, MN; children, Marshal (Susan) Isder of Fulda, MN and Nancy Lee (Douglas) Pierson of Slayton, MN; 4 grandchildren, Travis (Daisy) Pierson of Avoca, MN, Tanya (Chris) Sirianni of Minnetonka, MN, Emily (Trevor) Rosenbrook of Slayton, MN and Jacob Isder and his fiancée, Leisa Schmidt of Slayton, MN; 6 great-grandchildren, Lizzy Sirianni, Jack Pierson, Victoria Pierson, Atalie Rosenbrook, Caleb Rosenbrook and George Rosenbrook; Step-children, Scott (Angel) Miller of Sioux City, IA, Brian (Laura) Miller of Norwood Young America, MN and Julie (Richard) Duncan of Kensington, MN; step-grandchildren, Josh, Aly, Molly and Dawson Miller and Carter, Andrea, Max and Bret Duncan; sister Darlene Malenke of Worthington, MN; brother Clayton (Aletha) Isder of Fulda, MN; sisters-in-law, Florence Isder and Sophia Hein of Fulda, MN and Mildred Oldham of Worthington, MN.  George is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lydia, infant sister, brother Rimer and brother-in-law, Ralph Malenke.
FUNERAL SERVICES
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 5, 2012 with the Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating.  The organist is Pat Onken with special music provided by Vern and LeAnn Wenzel, Joann Jorgensen and Pam Beckman.  The pallbearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Interment is in Slayton Memorial Gardens at Slayton, MN.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
