Harold Keith Hart

Harold Hart was born on June 19, 1925 in Slayton, Minnesota to Edwin and Cecilia Johnson Hart.  He grew up on the family farm and attended Chandler High School.  On June 19, 1958 he and Janet Higinbotham were married at the United Presbyterian Church in Estherville, IA.  Following their marriage they farmed the family farm in Fenton Township, Murray County.  They remained on the farm until 2001 when they moved to Slayton.  In September 2016 Harold became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton where he passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the age of 91.  Harold was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church where he served as elder, trustee, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.  Harold also served on the Murray County Mutual Insurance Company Board. Harold enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Hart of Slayton, MN and three nieces, one nephew and several cousins.   He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-in-law, Dean and his wife, Doris Higinbotham.

Funeral Services

Iona Presbyterian Church in Iona, MN on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Deb Klaassen officiating.  The organist is Sharon Lais with special music by Dave Poppen.  The pallbearers are Duane Spartz, Mike Kluis, Bob Vander Linden, Curt Strampe, Alvin Boock and Aaron Kluis.  Interment is at Chandler Lutheran Cemetery in Chandler, MN.   

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-6:30 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
