June DeFreese

June DeFrrese, the daughter of Albert and Mattie Grunow Baumgard, was born on June 11, 1925 in Jackson, County, Minnesota. She later moved with her family to a farm northwest of Worthington. She grew up on the farm and attended Dist. 8 Country School. In 1946 they moved to Fulda, MN. She later received her GED. June was united in marriage to William "Fritz" DeFreese on March 15, 1949. After their marriage they lived and farmed on Fritz's fathers farm. After Fritz retired in 1992 they moved into Fulda. June remained at their home after Fritz passed away on November 21, 2001. June moved to the Maple Wood Apartments in 2003. She became a resident of Maple Lawn Nursing Home in October 2008 and passed away there on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the age of 84. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Fulda VFW Auxiallary. She enjoyed gardening, going on casino trips and tending to her chickens.

Survivors include her brother, Fred Baumgard of Fulda, MN and sister, Lillian Koehne of Heron Lake, MN; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband brothers, Reinhold and Eugene Baumgard and her twin brother, Alfred Baumgard, infant twin sisters, Mavis and Mabel Baumgard, brothers-in-law, Emil DeFreese and Bert Koehn, sisters-in-law, Elvera Baumgard and Nora DeFreese and nephew, Loren Koehn.

Funeral Services

St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2010 with the Rev. David Baumgarn officiating. The organist is Irene Wahl. The pallbearers are Dwain Koehn, Wayne Koehn, Douglas Koehn and Lyle Koehn. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery, Fulda, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
