Leo Michael Crowley

Leo Crowley, the son of William and Anna Nelson Crowley, was born on April 19, 1926 in Bondin Township, Murray County, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Fulda High School. Leo was united in marriage to Dolores Hager on August 30, 1948 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda, MN. He entered the U.S. Army in 1949 and was discharged in December of 1951. After their marriage they lived and farmed west of Fulda on a farm in Bondin Township. They raised their thirteen children and remained there after their retirement in 1993. Leo continued living on the farm after Dolores's death on July 9, 2007. Leo passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Avera Doughtery Hospice Home in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 82. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church Fulda, MN. Leo served on the Des Moines River Watershed Board for 15 years. He enjoyed playing cards, farming and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his thirteen children and their spouses, Diane (Len) Mathews of Eagan, MN, Colleen Dolph of Slayton, MN, Marie (Jim) DeLaHunt of Apple Valley, MN, Mike (Kristi) Crowley of Iona, MN, Gerald (Gabriela) Crowley of Hollywood, FL, Cathy (Doug) Stewart of Fulda, MN, Partrick (Lori) Crowley of Lakeville, MN, Margaret Mary (Gary) Ettel of Albany, MN, Glenn (Sheila) Crowley of Fulda, MN, Peggy Crowley and friend Kody Koepke of Eagan, MN, Deborah (Gary) Haper of Adrian, MN, Daniel (Sandy) Crowley of Becker, MN and Shannon (Craig) Bakke of Fulda, MN; 30 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Gaul of Slayton, MN; one brother, Vincent Crowley of Slayton, MN; four sisters-in-law, Alvina Crowley, Kathryn Crowley, Shirley (Vern) Bach and Pat (Dick) Lund; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, two granddaughters, three brothers, Raymond, Joseph and Clement Crowley and two sisters, Agnes Herrig and Clara Hedrick.

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel's Catholic Church at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 with the Fr. Larry Brixius and Msgr. Eugene Egan officiating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leaders are Sheila Crowley and Ken Salentiny. The pallbearers are his Grandchildren, Jeff and Erin Mathews, Kari Mathews and Ryan Gilbertson, Jill and Jeremy McJunkin, Anthony and Patrick DeLaHunt, Eric, Jeremy, David Crowley, Anthony and Alexander Crowley, Darby Stewart, Angela and Michael Downham, Dulcy and Travis Bestge, Cassy and Zachery Sankey, Tyler and Mason Crowley, Jessica and Brandon Ettel, Kristin and Joel Hovland, Aaron and Brianna Crowley, Anna and Elizabeth Haper, Nicholas, Samantha and Jonathan Crowley, Emily, Justin, Nathan and Megan Bakke and four great-grandchildren, Samuel and Benjamin Matthews, Jackson Bestge and Dalaney Downham. Honorary pallbearers are Wally Scott, James "Bob" Galagan, Sam Henkles, Greg Henkles, Gary Busch and Duane Besser. Military honors provided by the Fulda American Legion Post 318 and VFW Post 9017. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at St. Gabriel's Church Fulda, MN with a rosary and prayer service at 7 PM and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
