Nancy Agnes Griffith

Nancy Griffith was born on October 2, 1947 in Slayton, Minnesota to Lyeon and Esther “Gay” Norton Podenski.  She grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1965.  Nancy then attended Minnesota Business College in Minneapolis, MN.  In 1969 she moved to Phoenix, AZ for a short time before moving to Royal Gorge, CO.  In 1971 Nancy returned to Phoenix and began working as an underwriter for Valley Insurance Company. Nancy and John Griffith were married in Las Vegas, NV.  Following their marriage they made their home in Phoenix where Nancy continued working for Valley Insurance Company.  They later divorced.  In 1995 she returned to Slayton and continued working in the insurance field as an underwriter, in sales and in training.  Due to failing health Nancy moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 and passed away there on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the age of 68.  Nancy enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dominos.  She especial enjoyed spending time with family and her pets. 

Survivors include her mother, Gay Metz, her step father, Ray Metz of Slayton, MN, three siblings and their spouses, Merry and Dave Hollis of Slayton, MN, Tony and Gail Podenski of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Thomas and Kari of Rochester, MN, aunt and uncle, Jerry and Iris Klein of Slayton, MN and special friend, Gene Wisdorf of Slayton, MN.  She is preceded in death by her father, Lyeon Podenski. 

Memorial Services

Slayton Presbyterian Church in Slayton on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Ruling Elder Dave Hollis officiating.  The organist is Kathy Magnus.  Interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton at a later date.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
