Norman William Duerr
Norman Duerr, the son of William and Olga (Gehl) Duerr, was born on May 24, 1931 in Seward Township, Nobles Co., MN. He was baptized and confirmed from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda, MN. He grew up on the farm and attended country school, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1949. Norman then entered the U.S. Army and served for 2 years, one of them in Korea. Norman returned to the farm and was united in marriage to Henrietta Wagner on January 27, 1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed southwest of Fulda. They retired from farming in 1996 and moved into Fulda the following year. Norman passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 86. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Duerr of Fulda, MN; 6 children, Duane (Pat) Duerr of Brandon, SD, Gerald (Kathi) Duerr of Fulda, MN, Brian (Julie) Duerr of Rochester, MN, Glenn (Kris) Duerr of Owatonna, MN, Rosanne (Chris) Tesch of Henderson, MN and Melissa (Edgar Robles) Duerr of Elgin, IL; 16 grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher, Matthew (Kaitlyn) and Brianna Duerr; Anthony (Elle), Nickole (Jordan) Serbus, Paul and Philip (Tori) Duerr; Joshua (Amanda Jurrens), and Jonathan Duerr; Jessica, Michael and Trevor Duerr; Jacob and Charles Tesch; Jaden Robles; 5 great-grandchildren, Aidyn Duerr, Coen and Calvin Duerr, Adelyn Duerr and Tenley Serbus; 2 sisters, Arlene Oolman of Fulda, MN and Delores (William) Rademacher of Coon Rapids, MN and brother, Darold (Carol) Duerr of Eldora, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Brenda Kay Duerr and brother, Kenneth Duerr.
Funeral Services
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 20, 2017 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating. The organist is Loretta Gehl. The soloist is Donald Goedtke. The pallbearers are his grandchildren. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
