Vivian Mae Snyder

Vivian Snyder was born on October 24, 1919 in St. Paul, Minnesota to John and Clara Johnson Bell.  She grew up in East Grand Forks, MN and attended East Grand Forks High.  Following high school Vivian attended Bemidji State College and upon her graduation she returned to Slayton.  Vivian taught country school in Murray County for several years.  On July 23, 1942 she and Donald Snyder were married in Slayton.  Following their marriage they farmed for 32 years in Mason Township, Murray County, MN.  In 1972 they retired but remained on the farm until 1974 when they moved to Slayton.  Don passed away on August 9, 1984.  Vivian remained in their home until 2012 when due to failing health Vivian moved in with her daughter, Barb in Kissimmee, FL.  Vivian passed away there on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the age of 94.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Slayton.  Vivian also was a member of Eastern Star, the Goodwill Club and several card clubs. Vivian also was very involved with Slayton Senior Citizens.  Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting with friends and riding her three-wheel bike.

Survivors include her daughter, Barb Carlson of Kissimmee, FL, three grandsons, Brett Flathers and his wife, Laura of Lewiston, MN, Wade Carlson and his wife, Kim of Buffalo, MN and Wyatt Carlson and Rianna Avery of Minneapolis, MN, five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Flathers, Ryan Flathers, Emma Carlson, Owen Carlson and Michael Sicora.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Snyder and daughter, Linda Flathers.

Funeral Services

Totzke Funeral Chapel Slayton, MN on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jon Marburger officiating.  The pallbearers are Wade Carlson, Wyatt Carlson, Brett Flathers, Ryan Flathers, Owen Carlson, Emma Carlson, Kaitlyn Flathers and Walter Muecke.  Interment is Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN.
