Anita Mae Brouwer
Anita Brouwer was born on August 18, 1951 in Slayton, Minnesota to Marvin and Rose Kruger Brouwer. She grew up in Chandler, MN and later the family moved to Hadley, MN. Anita graduated from Slayton High School in 1970. Anita worked at Fey Industries in Edgerton, MN and later at the Lake Wilson Municipal Bar. She then went into partnership with Cindy Barry and they purchased Kadupers Bar in Iona, MN. After selling the Kadupers Bar Anita worked at the Slayton DAC. In November 2005 Anita lost her only child, Victoria “Torri” to an auto accident. Anita passed away at her home on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 66. She attended the Iona Presbyterian Church in Iona where she was baptized and confirmed as a child. Anita enjoyed reading, watching sports especially the Minnesota teams, and knitting.
Survivors include her siblings, Jeanine and Terry Lloyd of North Mankato, MN, Verlyn Brouwer of Lake Wilson, MN, Darla Van Meveren of Sioux Falls, SD, and John Brouwer of Hadley, MN, many nieces and nephew and their families and aunt, Arleen Dezeeuw and her husband, Clifford. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Victoria “Torri” Brouwer, and brother, Loren Brouwer.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN with a graveside service at the Badger Lake Cemetery in rural Iona, MN at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening.
