Joyce M. Cuperus

Joyce Cuperus, the daughter of William and Clara (Gehl) Kuehl, was born February 27, 1932 on a farm near Kinbrae, MN. She grew up on the farm and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Fulda and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1949. She then attended the University of Minnesota for 4 years. Joyce was united in marriage to William Cuperus on July 25, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Dundee until 1968 when they moved to a farm near Fulda. In 1989 they moved to house in Fulda. Joyce moved to the Maple View Estates apartments in 2012 and then Maplewood Apartments in 2017. Joyce passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home at the age of 86. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca where she was active with the Ladies Aid and church council. Joyce was also a past board member of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home and New Dawn. She also belonged to the Fulda Pink Ladies, Tops and did Meals on Wheels. She and Bill were also Foster parents and guardian adlitems. Joyce enjoyed gardening, flowers, volunteering, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her 5 children, Claire (Mohamed) Jamal of Austin, TX, Marsha (William) Beyer of St. Croix Falls, WI, Gerrit (Jill) Cuperus of Stillwater, OK, Burend (Jan) Cuperus of Fulda, MN and Kris (Beth) Cuperus of Fulda, MN; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and brother, Gary Kuehl. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Conley Kuehl, sister, Alita Oltman and infant sister, Audrey Kuehl.

Funeral Services

Faith Lutheran Church Avoca, MN at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 with Rev. Dawn Quame officiating.  The organist is Sherri Isder. The honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 6 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday
