Lois Evelyn Shelton

Lois Shelton was born on September 6, 1943 in Jackson, Minnesota to Ferdinand and Martha Olson Scharping.  The family remained in Jackson until 1945 when they moved to Brewster, MN.  Lois graduated from Brewster High School in 1961.  On June 10, 1961 she and Larry Shelton were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster.  Following their marriage they made their home in the Westbrook area where their first child, Linette was born on August 9, 1962.  In 1962 they moved to Dundee, MN for a year before moving to Worthington, MN where on September 30, 1964 they were blessed with twins, Lori and Lonnie.  Lois later attended Jackson Vocational College. Lois worked at Campbell’s Soup, Nystrom Apple Orchard, JCPenney’s, Allied Mills and in the County Market bakery.  In 2004 they moved to a home on Lake Sarah near Garvin, MN.  Lois passed away at her home on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the age of 74.  She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN.  Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, trips to area casino’s, shopping, cooking and baking treats for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Shelton of Garvin, MN, daughter, Lori and Joe Fokken of South Sioux City, NE, son, Lonnie Shelton and Chris Davis of Royal Oak, MI, son-in-law, Randall and Linda Voehl of Windom, MN, eight grandchildren, Mitchell, Marshall, Micheal, and Matthew Nasers, grand-dog boxer, Abby Davis Shelton, Casey and Erica Voehl, Rachel and Dustin Kocak, Mason and Sarah Voehl, and Haley Voehl, two great-grandchildren, Liam Voehl and Grace Kocak, five siblings, Alice Tuttle of Sioux Falls, SD, Carolyn Kruse of Okabena, MN, Marilyn and Bob Sorenson of Worthington, MN, Diane Reinertson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dale and Sally Scharping of Roseau, MN and a host of other family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Linette Voehl, brother, Earl Scharping, and two sisters, Debra Scharping and Ruth Paplow.

Funeral Services

St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark Schreiber officiating.  The organist is Lorenda Glade with special music by Randall Voehl.  The pallbearers are her grandchildren and her sons-in-law.  Interment is Worthington Memory Gardens in Worthington, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
