Lorraine Marie Mathias

Lorraine Mathias, the daughter of John and Margaret (Czepa) Redenius, was born on May 7, 1926 in Fulda, MN. She grew up in Fulda and attended school and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1944. Lorraine was united in marriage to Arthur Mathias on June 18, 1945 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Dundee. In 1987 they moved to Windom. She remained at home after Art passed away in November of 1998. Lorraine passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, MN at the age of 91. She was a member of St. Xavier’s Catholic Church in Windom. She enjoyed doing needlework playing cards and computer games.

Survivors include her 4 children, Patricia (Ralph) Hall of Land O Lakes, FL, Carol (Wayne) Nichols of Redwood Falls, MN, Linda (Richard) Vortherms of Windom, MN, and Wanda (Richard) Winter of Marshall, MN; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jim Schaffer, grandson, Ronald Hall and brother Lester Redenius.

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Mary Ann Boom. The song leader is Lloyd Winter. The honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, Nate Vortherms, Doug Nichols, April Bynum, Lindsay Filak, Randal Hall, Ronald Hall, Lisa Kalfs, Kristen Obermueller, Paul Schaffer, Dana Graff, Andy Winter, John Winter and Eric Winter. Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Dundee, MN.
