Lucille Virlin Bestge

Lucille Bestge, the daughter of John and Mabel (Svane) Fenske, was born on May 22, 1930 near Arlington, SD. She grew up on a farm and attended school, graduating from Arlington High School. Lucille was united in marriage to Deddo Bestge on October 21, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, SD. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Bancroft, SD and DeSmet, SD for a number of years. In 1966 they bought a farm west of Fulda, MN. They moved into Fulda in 1989. Lucille remained in their home after Deddo passed away in January of 1998. In November of 2013 she moved to the Maple View Estates in Fulda. Lucille entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda in January of 2017 and passed away there on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the age of 88. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda where she was active with the Presbyterian Women, TOPS and taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Fulda Pink Ladies and card club. Lucille enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, playing cards, working outside, tending to animals and chores when she was on the farm. She was always willing to help people out when they were in need.

Survivors include her 5 children, Lyle (Deidre) Bestge of Faribault, MN, Mary (Lloyd) Winter of Fulda, MN, Dale (Deb) Bestge of Fulda, MN, Al (Colleen) Bestge of Fulda, MN and Verna (Mark) Winter of Alexandria, MN; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Beverly (Charles) Purcell of Crooks, SD and brother, Gerald (Gail) Fenske of Worthing, SD. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Victor Jensen, husband, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Services

First Presbyterian Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 22, 2019 with Kathy Knips officiating.  The organist is Norma Meyeraan. The soloist is Lloyd Winter. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
