In Loving Memory Of
Mary Marcella Ahlers
Mary Ahlers, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Niichel) Schnurr, was born on February 28, 1938 in Hospers, IA. She grew up Ashton, IA before moving to Ruthton, MN and later to Fulda, MN. She graduated from the Fulda High School in 1956. Mary was united in marriage to James Ahlers on May 23, 1959 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed southwest of Fulda where they raised their 4 children. Mary passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Worthington Sanford Medical Center at the age of 81. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. Mary enjoyed reading, her many pen pals, crafts, playing cards, puzzles and trips to the casino.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Ahlers of Fulda, MN; children, Alan (Maria) Ahlers of Fulda, MN, Mark Ahlers of Fulda, MN, Craig Ahlers of Fulda, MN and Lynn (Ed) Hoffman of North Mankato, MN; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; Cliff (Karen) Shelby; Siblings, Don Schnurr of Des Moines, IA, Ben Schnurr of Excelsior, MN, Micky Thom of Phoenix, AZ, Irene (Jerry) Martin of Phoenix, AZ, Gerry (Nancy) Schnurr of Des Moines, IA and Tillie Nepper of Le Sueur, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings, Edward Schnurr, Lucille Jonning, Helen Land and Blanch Eich.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2019 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. The organist is Mary Ann Boom. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers are Ryan Timmerman, Evan Timmerman, Shaun Timmerman, Eric Ahlers, Alexa Ahlers, Blake Diekmann and Taylor Daniels. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the Avera Heart Hospital.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
