Todd Michael Appel

Todd Appel, the son of Donald and Geraldine (Carlson) Appel, was born on October 9, 1963 in Slayton, MN. He grew up on a farm east of Fulda, MN and attended school in Fulda, graduating from the Fulda High School in 1982. Todd obtained his pilots license at the age of 17 and had a love of airplanes and flying. After high school Todd entered the U.S. Army where he specialized in diesel engine and tank repair. He was stationed in Germany before his honorable discharge in 1986. Todd returned to Fulda and lived on the family farm. He worked various jobs over the years specializing in metal fabrication. In 2008 he moved to Little Rock, IA where he made his home. Todd passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 56. Todd’s special interests were his classic cars, watching the Minnesota Vikings and socializing with his friends.

Survivors include his 2 brothers, Terry (Margie Clark) Appel of Fulda, MN and Tom (Mary) Appel of Fulda, MN; 6 nieces and nephews, Jason, Lindsey, Matthew, Andrew, Bennett and Kameryn Appel; special friend, Jody Rindflesch of Little Rock, IA and 2 aunts, Mary Ann DeMay of St. Paul, MN and Janice Ramert of Lennox, SD. He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Michael John Appel.

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating.  The organist is Mary Ann Boom. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN. Military honors provided by the Fulda American Legion Post 318 and VFW Post 9017.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
