In Loving Memory Of
A. W. “Del” Koopman Sr.
Del Koopman, the son of John and Eliese (Pfingsten) Koopman, was born on November 4, 1930 in rural Fulda, MN. He grew up on a farm northwest of Fulda and attended country school and walked up hill in snow both ways. He graduated from the Fulda High School in 1948 and enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in March of 1952. While in the Marines he was part of the Marine Corps Color Guard and the Marching Band. Del was united in marriage to Judith Brown on June 21, 1952 in Fulda. After their marriage they lived in San Francisco, CA for a short time before returning to Fulda. They lived in Fulda their entire married life while Del worked for Interstate Power. Del remained at home after Judy passed away in November of 2004 until moving to the Maple View Estates in Fulda in March of 2022. Del passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN at the age of 92. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda where he was active in the church choir. Del was a past Chairman of the Fulda School board and Fulda Town & Country Golf board member. Del truly enjoyed his life with golfing, hunting, crossword puzzles, playing baseball, watching all MN sports, shooting pool, bowling, archery, watching Raiders/Coyotes sports (especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren). He also enjoyed watching the Weather Channel and Fox Business, keeping up on the markets and tending to his wood ducks and wood duck houses. Del was known for his gardening, especially “Koopman” melons and his Honey Crisp apples. You could find Del ditch diving for asparagus, Coffee Clutching and visiting at Antonio’s. He was always happy to take your money playing cards or on the golf course.
Survivors include his 6 children, Adelbert Koopman Jr. of Fulda, MN, Daniel Koopman of Heron Lake, MN, Curtis Koopman of Fulda, MN, Brian (Jill) Koopman of Worthington, MN, Tami (Tim) Kremer of Willmar, MN and Nita Koopman-Mahrt of Cedar Bluffs, NE; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Kathryn Koopman. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Randy Koopman and siblings, Marvin Koopman, Marie (Jacob) Ommen, Henry Koopman, Norma (Carroll) Meek, Wilma (Earl) Farmer, Wilbert (Gerda) Koopman, Lester (Dorothy) Koopman, Vernon Koopman and Lorine (Elmer) Clapp.
Funeral Services
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating. The organist is Loretta Gehl. Special music by Roger Koopman. Pallbearers are his grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearer is Lloyd Dierks. A private family burial will be at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
