Aletha Lucille Gerdes
Aletha Gerdes, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Wiener) Schuster, was born on June 25, 1931 in Slayton, MN. She grew up in Bloom Twp., Nobles Co., MN until 1934 when they moved to a farm near Avoca, MN and later to a farm near Fulda. She attended country school and graduated from Fulda High School in 1949. Aletha was united in marriage to James Gerdes on October 1, 1950 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed the Gerdes family farm. Aletha worked at Citizens State Bank in Fulda and the Maple Lawn Nursing Home. In the fall of 1998, they moved into Fulda. Aletha remained at their home after Jim passed away in February of 2008. She married Clayton Isder in November of 2010 and made their home in Fulda. Clayton passed away in September of 2016. Aletha passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Sioux Falls Sanford Medical Center at the age of 89. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Fulda where she taught Sunday School and served on several church committees. Aletha also belonged to the Maple Lawn Pink Ladies and the Fulda Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed church activities, gardening, baking, canning, traveling, fishing, playing cards, watching her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and embroidery.
Survivors include her 2 children, Rodney (Susan) Gerdes of Niceville, FL and Roxanne (Jim) Kremer of Wilmont, MN; 6 grandchildren, Kristina (Justin) Shields, Michelle (Ryan) Cooley, Kelsey (James) Wiedeman, Andrew (Alexis) Kremer, Abby (Aaron) Katzka and Steven (Courtney) Kremer; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Beverly Jandl of Jasper, MN, Anna Marie Guthrie of Libby, MT and Bernice (Roger) Bunkers of Westbrook, MN; 2 brothers, Raymond (Barbara) Schuster of Sibley, IA and Ed (Mary) Schuster of Sioux Falls, SD and sister-in-law, Linda Schuster. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, James and Clayton and brother, George Schuster.
Funeral Services
Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 4, 2021 with Rev. Lance Isaacson officiating. The organist is Norma Dittmann. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery rural Fulda, MN.
Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
