Alvina Catherine Beek

Alvina Beek was born on March 6, 1936, in Luverne, Minnesota to Leopold and Bertha Recker Dollander.  She grew up in Lismore, MN and graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic High School. On January 21, 1956, she and Harold Beek were married at St. Mary’s Church in Worthington, MN.   Following their married they made their home in Worthington until 1958 when they moved to a farm near Magnolia, MN.  In 1968 they moved to a farm south of Lake Wilson, MN. In 1993 they retired and moved to Chandler, MN.  Harold passed away on May 21, 1995.  Alvina remained in Chandler until 2018 when she moved to Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.  She passed away there on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 87.  She was a member of St. Mary Church in Lake Wilson and was a member of the C.C.W.  She also was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Auxiliary.  Alvina enjoyed reading, watching sports, and playing cards. 

Survivors include her four sons and their spouses, Stephen and Bonita Beek of Lake Wilson, MN, Craig and Laurie Beek of New Prague, MN, Mark and Kris Beek of Lake Wilson, MN, and Brian and Terri Beek of Lake Wilson, MN, 11 grandchildren, Aaron and Anna Beek, Emily Beek, Matthew Beek and Michael Beek, Brandon Beek and Ashley Beek, Andrew and Sonya Beek, Catherine and Dwight Montgomery, Krista Beek, and Ethan Beek, and Anthony and Kayla Beek, and eight great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, son, Randall, and two sisters, and their spouses, Alice and Dick Werkmen and Barb and Wayne Langland. 

Funeral Services

St. Mary’s Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Schuster officiating.  The organist is Sharon Lais.  The song leader is Julie Steenstra.  The pallbearers are her grandchildren.  Interment is at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Worthington, MN.
