Amanda Kay Pankonin

Amanda Pankonin was born on April 7, 2001, in Marshall, Minnesota to Brett and Shari Heidebrink Muecke.  She grew up in Slayton, MN. While in school Amanda participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball-her favorite.  She graduated from Murray County Central High School in 2019.  Amanda then attended Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls, SD graduating with an accounting degree in 2021.  While attending college and after graduation Amanda work for her dad at RA Muecke Sand & Gravel, a job she truly enjoyed.    On July 7, 2023, she and Hunter Pankonin were married in Sioux Falls, SD.  Following their marriage, they made their home on the Pankonin family farm near Lamberton, MN. Amanda always enjoyed her time with Hunter in the semi hauling livestock and seeing the country.   Amanda passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at her home at the age of 24.  The family attended the United Methodist Church in Lamberton.  Amanda loved playing all kinds of sports.  She loved going to the lake-suntanning, jet skiing, and swimming.  She loved working at the gravel pit and hanging out with her co-workers and other friends.  Amanda loved spending time with her family most of all.  Her biggest joy in life was her precious baby boy Judson.  Her loved ones will miss her dearly, especially her kind heart, big smile, and little giggle. 

Survivors include her husband, Hunter Pankonin and infant son, Judson of Lamberton, MN, her parents, Brett and Jennifer Muecke of Slayton, MN, and Shari and Greg Flack of Battle Lake, MN, siblings, Brittany and Geoffrey Longhurst of Denver, CO and their soon to be baby and Garrett Muecke and significant other, Kaitlyn VandenBosch of Slayton, MN, three step siblings, Nicole Flack and significant other, Matt Thompson of New York City, NY, Tyler Flack and fiancé Paige Harpenau of Surprise, AZ, and Connor Flack and fiancé Ashley Vetscher of Glendale, AZ, maternal grandfather, Ron Heidebrink of Slayton, MN, and mother-in-law, Jessica Doss of Alexandria, MN, two in-laws, Bailey Pankonin and significant other Tyler Smith and their daughter, Bryndle of Cardwell, MT, and Sydney Pankonin and significant other, Riley Strate of Brookings, SD and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Russell Muecke, paternal grandmother, Arlie Muecke-Sellevold and her husband A.R. Sellevold, maternal grandmother, JoAnne Heidebrink, father-in-law, Mark Pankonin, step-grandparents, John and Gloria Vetter, and Chet and Mona Flack. 

Funeral Services

Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Cathy Hoffbeck officiating.  The organist is Sherri Isder with special music by Heidi Winter.  The pallbearers are Ben Grimmius, Terry Johnson, Josh Ramerth, Ron Mitchell, Cameron Boerboom, Cole Jackson, Wade Wolff and Clarke O’Donnel.  Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.  Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements.  To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to any Minnwest Bank in care of Judson Pankonin, Amanda and Hunter’s son.
