Anna Mae Edith Fuerstenberg

Anna Mae Fuerstenberg was born on October 03, 1933, on the family farm in Nobles County, Minnesota to Nicholas and Anna Schmit Probst.  She grew up on the farm near St. Kilian, MN and graduated from Worthington High School.  On June 1, 1953, she and Raymond Fuerstenberg were married at St Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian.  Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm near St. Kilian for a short time before moving to St. Kilian.  They then moved to Osakis, MN until 1972 when they returned to St. Kilian.  Raymond passed away on April 18, 1972.  Anna Mae being the strong women that she was raised her six children while operating an at home daycare. Anna Mae was a surrogate mom to many area children over the years.  In 2021 Anna Mae moved to Maple Lawn Senior Care in Fulda, MN.  She passed away there on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 92.  She was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian where she served in many different capacities.  Upon its closing she joined St. Anthony’s Church in Lismore, MN.  She was a member of the Project Club, Nobles County Daycare Association and served on the Wilmont Township Board as Treasurer.  Anna Mae enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, bingo, and checkers, crocheting, quilting, sewing, gardening, watching her grandkids sporting activities, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins and her dogs and cats. 

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Lydia and Steven Luedeman of Iona, MN, Mary Kay and Chuck Sauer of Fulda, MN, Connie and Troy Wieneke of Slayton, MN, Kevin Fuerstenberg of St Kilian, MN, and Brian Fuerstenberg of St. Kilian, MN, nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter, and two siblings, Donald and Doris Probst of Worthington, MN and Angie Mixner of Worthington, MN.  She is preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Deb Fuerstenberg, three infant siblings, Genevieve, Frances, and Henry Probst, one sister, Mariella Heeren and her husband, Alvin, one brother, Nicholas Probst and his wife, Elvera, and one brother-in-law, Jim Mixner.

Funeral Services

St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian, MN on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Rick Colletti officiating.  The organist is Karen Cook.  The song leader is Sheila Crowley.  The pallbearers are her grandchildren John Bertrand, Raymond Bertrand, Patrick Gordon, Sara Henderson, Elizabeth Bertrand, Kimberly Echternach, Eric Wieneke, Nathan Wieneke and Tori Hudson.  Interment is at St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery in St. Kilian, MN. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the church in St. Kilian from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.  Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
