Arlene June Muse

 

Arlene Muse was born on October 19, 1931 in Parker, South Dakota to Reiner and June Madden Johnson.  She grew up in the Iona and Slayton areas and attended Fulda High School.  In 1948 her mother passed away and Arlene moved to Sioux Fall, SD where she graduated from high school.  Arlene lived in many parts of the country, but always called Minnesota home.  Arlene’s always made friends easily where she was because of her friendly nature.  In her later years, Arlene called Westbrook, Slayton, Worthington and Marshall home.  She worked at Lichty Drug in Westbrook and later as Activity Director at the Slayton Manor and the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center.  Arlene passed away at the Lockwood House in Marshall, MN on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the age of 88.  She was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall and a former member of the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN where she volunteered in the church office.  She was member of the Worthington Hospital Auxiliary, volunteered for the Worthington Chamber of Commerce and at area assisted living homes.  Arlene enjoyed calling Bingo, writing poetry, participating in Ole and Lena Skits and crocheting having donated many of her doilies, baby hats and baby blankets to the hospital auxiliary.

 

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Linda and Roy Hemmert of Beatrice, NE, Cheryl and Roger Wipperman of Marshall, MN, and Randy Muse of Minneapolis, MN, eight grandchildren, Shawna Zelinko and Tim Brown, Roy Jr. Hemmert, Amy and Travis Halland, Michele Portinga, Lorene and Justin Dibble, Caleb Muse, Brian and Sylvia Rossow, and Monica Rossow, 13 great-grandchildren, Craig Zelinko and Leah Breeman, Corey Zelinko, Kodi Zelinko, Zackeri and Desiree Zelinko, Cory and Kendal Portinga, Dalton Portinga, Makenna Portinga, Landyn Dibble, Kaleigh Dibble, Tyler Halland and Brenna Lea, Mason  Halland, Spencer Halland and Roman Rossow, two great-great-grandchildren, Corey Zelinko Jr, Robert Zelinko and one baby Halland on the way. One sister, Betty Onken of Slayton, MN.  She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael Rossow, infant granddaughter, Tammy Malone, sister, Ardis Pyle and her husband Carrol, one brother-in-law, Ken Onken and spouses, James Lewison, Leon Rossow, and Rex Muse.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Christensen officiating.  The pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
