In Loving Memory Of

Arthur John Buschena

Art Buschena, the son of John and Frieda (Duerr) Buschena, was born on June 11, 1925 in Fulda, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. He grew up in Fulda and attended school, graduating from the Fulda High School in 1943. Art served in the US Navy from 1943-1946 as an electrician’s Mate, second class. He then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, graduating with an electrician’s degree. He returned to Fulda and worked with his father at Buschena Electric in downtown Fulda; in 1962 he passed the test to receive his Master Electrician’s license. He later took over the business. Art was united in marriage to Mary Jean Kahle on August 31, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda. Together they ran the electric shop until Mary Jean became ill, at which time they retired. Mary Jean passed away in May of 2009. Art passed away on February 2, 2022 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 96. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda serving as an elder and, at one time, a Sunday School teacher. Art served on the Prairie Hill Cemetery board for many years. He also worked with the Boy Scouts. Art was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. His time spent in the Navy was a source of great pride for him. Art enjoyed a hot bowl of oatmeal, a plain donut, a good cup of coffee, and Rice Krispie bars. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and was known for using the phrase “cotton-picker” to cover a variety of situations. Art was on one of the first “Honor Flights” to Washington D.C., to see the veteran’s memorials.

Survivors include his two sons, Alan Buschena of New Brighton, MN and Brad (Marsha) Buschena of Fulda, MN; granddaughter, Jennifer (Rob) Riehm of Minneapolis, MN; two great-granddaughters, Ruby and Olive; sister, Frances Anderson (100) of Richfield, MN as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Lillian (Arnold) Bondhus, brother-in-law, Jerry Anderson and many other relatives and special friends.
