Audrey Mae Fletcher
Audrey Fletcher was born on March 19, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The daughter of Harvey and Margaret Knopke. She grew up in Racine, WI and graduated from Racine High School. Following high school Audrey attended nursing school and later returned to college to obtain her Teaching Degree. In June 1960 she and Raymond Fletcher were married. Following their marriage, they made their home in Frost, MN where they both taught school. In 1969 they moved to Slayton, MN and Audrey continued teaching and working as a substitute teacher while their daughters were young. Ray passed away on April 11, 2005. Audrey remained in their home until October 2019 when she became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN. Audrey passed away there on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the age of 94. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton and sang in the church choir. Audrey played the Viola in the Worthington and Marshall Orchestra’s. She enjoyed gardening, hiking, riding bicycle, camping fishing, and her time in the orchestra.
Survivors include her two daughters, Margie Dunn and her husband, Steve and Nora Meyer, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray and one sister, Rosalyn St. Lawrence.
A graveside service will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Darby Lawrence officiating.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton from 4-5 p.m. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
