Bernadine Mary Kremer

Bernadine Kremer was born on August 2, 1931, in Slayton, Minnesota to Joseph and Rose Beech Schreier.  She grew up on the family farm near Currie, MN and graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in 1950.  On June 6, 1950, she and Ivan Kremer were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie.  Following their marriage, they made their home near Currie for a year before moving to Iona Township, Murray County, MN, where she and Ivan farmed and raised their 11 children.  Ivan passed on March 29, 1986.  Bernadine remained on the farm until October 14, 2022, when she moved to Maplewood Court in Fulda, MN.   On September 7, 2023, she moved to Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda.  Bernadine passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 92.  She was a member of St. Columba Church in Iona where she was active in the CCW and with the quilting group.  She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.  Bernadine enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, gardening, playing cards, fishing, and baking. 

Survivors include her eight children and their spouse, Sharon and Alan Balster of Garvin, MN, Dale and Deb Kremer of Fulda, MN, Lloyd Kremer of McAllen, TX, Roger and Sue Kremer of Fulda, MN, Gary and Patricia Kremer of Fresno, CA, Thomas and Tammy Kremer of Larchwood, IA, Timothy Kremer of Iona, MN, and Linda and Bill Kriech of Wentworth, SD, 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three siblings, Evelyn Ackerman of Mankato, MN, Mary Foster of Maple Grove, MN, and David Schreier and his wife, Alice of Currie, MN, four sisters-in-law, Bev Schreier of Slayton, MN, June Schreier of Slayton, MN, Lita Schreier of Currie, MN, and Mary Schreier of Emily, MN.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan, infant son, Michael Kremer, two sons, Paul Kremer and Gregg Kremer, great granddaughter, Jade Kriech, five brothers, John and his wife, Barb Schreier, Vincent Schreier, Duane Schreier, Gerald Schreier, and Francis Schreier, two brothers-in-law, Daniel Ackerman and Darrell Foster and her parents-in-law, Barney and Caroline Kremer. 

Funeral Services

St. Columba Church in Iona, MN on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Tim Biren officiating.  The organist is Sharon Lais.  The song leader is Wes Biren with special music by Nathan Groninga and Mackenzie Groninga.  The pallbearers are Joshua Balster, Adam Kremer, Justin Kremer, Jamie Kremer, Nathan Kremer, Brady Kremer Nathan Groninga, and Ian Groninga.   Interment is at St. Columba Cemetery in Iona, MN. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at St. Columba Church in Iona, MM from 4-6 p.m. with a CDA Rosary at 4:00 P.M.
