Betty Abrahamson
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Abrahamson, the daughter of Elmer and Luella (Greiner) Peiffer, was born on March 7, 1947 in Washington, IA. She grew up on a farm near Keota, IA and attended St. Mary’s School in Keota. Betty graduated from Keota High School in 1965 and then attended the University of Northern Iowa. Betty was united in marriage to Doyle Abrahamson on June 24, 1967 in Keota. After their marriage they lived in Tulsa, OK before moving to Boone, IA where she attended Iowa State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree. In 1970 they moved to Worthington, MN where she taught at Lakeview Children’s School in Worthington. Betty also owned a craft store in Worthington for 4 years. She stayed home with her children when they were toddlers and went back to work at Head Start and was an Early Childhood Special Education teacher in Luverne-Magnolia. She took classes at Mankato State and received her Master’s Degree. In 2000 they moved to Fulda and was principal at the Fulda School and Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City, IA until her retirement in 2011. Betty passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN at the age of 78. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and served with the F.C.C.W.. Betty also belonged to the Fulda Pink Ladies. Betty enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge.
Survivors include her husband, Doyle Abrahamson of Fulda, MN; 2 children, Peter (Robin) Abrahamson of Chaska, MN and Jill (Scott) Sheehan of LeMars, IA; 5 grandchildren, Lauren, Luke and Caleb Abrahamson and Annie and Laura Sheehan; brother, LeRoy Peiffer; 2 sisters, JoEllen Eakins and Darlene (Gary) Maricle; 2 sisters-in-law, Sharon (Bob) Adams and Carolyn Peiffer and brother-in-law, Mark Rose. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Denny Peiffer, 2 sisters-in-law, Sherri Peiffer and Lachel Rose, brother-in-law, Ray Eakins and 2 nephews, Loren Adams and Chris Maricle.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 with Fr. Peter Schuster celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery Remsen, IA.
Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
