Betty Hermeling
Betty Hermeling was born on August 4, 1926 in Blue Earth, MN. She grew up in Blue Earth and attended school. Betty then attended Beauty School in Mankato, MN. She then moved to Fulda, MN and met Joseph Hermeling at the Ritz Ballroom in Lismore, MN. Betty was united in marriage to Joseph Hermeling on June 4, 1956 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed south of Iona, MN. In 1987 they moved off the farm and into Fulda. Betty remained at their home after Joe passed away in August of 2006. In 2016 she moved to the Maple Wood C and in 2019 she entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home. Betty passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home at the age of 95. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and a former member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona, MN. Betty enjoyed word searches, scrabble, puzzles, gardening, crocheting, but most of all she loved her grandkids.
Survivors include her 4 children, JoAnn Harbeck of Sioux City, IA, Doug (Julie) Hermeling of Adrian, MN, Tim (Laurie) Hermeling of Iona, MN and Jeff (Sarah) Hermeling of Richland Hills, TX; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren (with 4 more on the way). She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 daughters, (2 infants and Kristine Hermeling), 1 grandson, Michael Hermeling, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2022 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. Interment at St. Columba Cemetery Iona, MN.
