In Loving Memory of
Brenda Louise “Weezie” Platt
Brenda Platt was born on June 19, 1952, in Slayton, Minnesota to Paul and Mary Ann “Babe” Schettler Platt. She grew up in Wilmont until 1955 when the family moved to Iona, MN. Brenda attended St. Columba Catholic School and graduated from Slayton High School in 1970. Following high school Brenda enlisted in the United States Air Force where she served stateside and in England. Following her honorable discharge on August 17, 1979, she moved to San Antonio, TX and later made her home in Lebanon, Il. It was there that she met the love of her life Terry Rupp. They later moved to St. Cloud, MN where Brenda worked in the radiology department of the VA Health Care System in St. Cloud. In 2012 Brenda retired and they moved to Iona. Brenda passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 71. Brenda enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, and riding around on the side/side and golfcart.
Survivors include her partner of 38 years, Terry Rupp of Iona, MN, eight siblings and their spouses, Marlene “Mert” and John Brown of Slayton, MN, Vicky Plaisance and Rex Streff of Hadley, MN, Karla and Ed Mahon of Slayton, MN, Augusta Meyer-Brandt and Brian Peterson of Isle, MN, Bruce and Penny Platt, Bryon and Dixie Platt, Bernie and Kay Platt all of Iona, MN, Barry and Jan Platt of Cleveland, MN, sister-in-law, Sandy Rupp of Alachua, Fl and several nieces, nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Platt, mother, Babe and Pat “Mick” McCormick, parents- in-law, John and Helen Rupp, and six brothers-in-law, Kalvin Meyer, Jerry Brandt, Ronnie Conway, Jim Plaisance, Henry Rupp and Charles Rupp.
Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Wilmont VFW Post will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Columba Cemetery in Iona, MN at 1:30 p.m. with a celebration of Brenda’s life to follow at St. Columba Hall in Iona from 2-4.
