Butch Kruger
Elvin “Butch” Kruger, the son of George and Dorothy (Visker) Kruger, was born on November 9, 1948 in Sibley, IA. He grew up in the Bigelow, MN area and Sibley, IA and attended school in Sibley. Butch was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and served with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he attended Jackson Vo Tech in Jackson, MN. He married Linda Braun and together they had 4 children and were later divorced. On August 20, 1994 Butch married Barb Croat. After their marriage they made their home in Fulda, MN. He worked for Northwest Gas for almost 30 years and was very active with the Fulda American Legion/Fulda Community Center. Butch passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Worthington Sanford Medical Center at the age of 73. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. Butch was a member of the Fulda American Legion and a past member of the Fulda Fire Dept. He enjoyed visiting with friends, spending time with his grandchildren, especially in the morning with ice cream, chicken nuggets and bacon served for breakfast. Butch had a knack for always being able to tell a good story.
Survivors include his wife, Barb Kruger of Fulda, MN; 3 daughters, MeLissa (Chris) Lawson of Des Moines, IA, Ann (Darwin) Gehl of Harrisburg, SD and Kati (Jeff) Grengs of Belle Plaine, MN; 8 grandchildren, Payton, Zoe, Ivy, Manika, Geno, Sam, Derrick and Trevor and 8 sisters and brothers-in-law, Gib Blochowitz, Carolyn Kruger, Mike (Vicky) Croat, Kathy (Tom) Szalat, Mark (Micki) Croat, Tom (Debbie Jensen) Croat, Lori (Dan) Fauskee and Shari (Mark) Dykema. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Michael John Kruger, sister, Margie Blochowitz and brother, George Kruger.
Funeral Services
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 with Msgr. R. Paul Heiting officiating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers are his grandchildren. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN. Military honors provided by the Fulda American Legion 318 and VFW 9017.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 6 PM at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
