Carl John Schreier

Carl Schreier was born on July 14, 1960, in Slayton, Minnesota to John and Ann Barbara Knowles Schreier.  He grew up on the family farm near Currie, MN.  Carl attended grade school in Currie and graduated from Slayton High School in 1978.  Carl then attended Worthington Community College in Worthington, MN and then furthered his degree at SDSU in Brookings, SD.  Carl farmed and lived near Dovray, MN for many years before moving in 2006 to the home he built near the family farm.  Carl enjoyed crop farming, raising sheep, cattle, and shearing sheep.  Carl served on the Dovray Fire Department. Carl was an accomplished pianist sharing his talent with many area churches.  He enjoyed down-hill skiing, bowling with the Currie Crew, attending his grandchildren’s events, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin.  On July 31, 2009, he and Pamela Woitaszewski were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN.  Carl and Pamela recently relocated from the farm near Currie to a home in Slayton, MN. Carl passed away peacefully with Pam by his side at Sanford Westbrook Hospital on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022, at the age of 62.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Schreier of Slayton, MN, three stepchildren, Luke (Angie) Woitaszewski of Currie, MN, Kaitlyn (Matt) Marsh of Westbrook, MN, and Jed (Cassie) Woitaszewski of Currie, MN, six grandchildren Gavin Woitaszewski, Jacob Woitaszewski, Faith Marsh, Ella Woitaszewski, Adlee Woitaszewski and Axton Woitaszewski, one brother, Allan (Margie) Schreier of Belle Fourche, SD, two sisters-in-law, Michelle Schreier of Currie, MN and Reva Potter of Belle Fourche, SD, father-in-law, Arnold Guild of Slayton, MN, two sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Kraig) Cochran of Slayton, MN, and Peggy (Tim) McKenney of Hawarden, IA, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Schreier, brother, Paul Schreier and mother-in-law, Marie Guild.

Funeral Services

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 10:30 am with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating.  The organist is Patty LeClaire. The song leader is Matt Kopperud.  The pallbearers are Kraig Cochran, Tim McKenney, Kyle Cochran, Mikie Johnson, Jason Schreier, and Kent Lorang.  Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, MN.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie from 4:00-6:00 pm.  Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements.  To view online obituary and send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
