Charles “Chuck” Lester Like

Chuck Like was born on April 14, 1946, in Slayton, Minnesota to Lester and Mildred O’Donnell Like.  He grew up in Slayton until 1956 when the family moved to Heron Lake, MN.  Chuck graduated from Heron Lake High School in 1964 and then attended Mankato Commercial College in Mankato, MN, graduated in 1966.  Following graduation Chuck moved to Hopkins, MN where he worked as an accountant.  On February 4, 1967, he and Sandra “Sandi” Klinker were married in Franklin, MN.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Morrison, IL for one year before moving to Slayton.  Over the years Chuck worked for Hy-Way Grocery, Nabisco, Farm Bureau, Murray County Sheriff’s Offices, M & M and Bomgaars.  He retired in 2013.  In 2018 they moved to Alexandria, MN to be near their daughter, Leigh, and her family.  Due to failing health on January 20, 2025, Chuck moved to Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, MN.  He passed away there on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 78.   Chuck was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton and the Knights of Columbus.  Chuck enjoyed time with his grandchildren, woodworking, hunting and reading. 

Survivors include his wife, Sandi Like of Alexandria, MN two children and their spouses, Leigh and Fran Breiter of Alexandria, MN, and Matthew and Mandy Like of Crawfordville, Fl, six grandchildren Abby, Brooke, Aaron, and Aiden Breiter and Finn and Ethan Like, one sister, Virginia Johnson of Faribault, MN, one brother-in-law, Ken Christopherson of Grand Junction, CO.  He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Robert Bisch, infant daughter, Leslie Kay Like, sister, Mary Christopherson, one brother-in-law, Norton Johnson and many nieces and nephews and their families.
