Clarence Henry Eich
Clarence Eich was born on July 16, 1916 in Epiphany, South Dakota to Matthew and Dora Bender Eich. He grew up on the family farm and attended Catholic school. Clarence worked on the family farm and also worked various jobs in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. On February 11, 1939 he and Kathryn Busch were married in Slayton, MN. Following their marriage they farmed near Epiphany before moving to a farm east of Slayton. In 1953 they moved to a farm in Lake Sarah Township, Murray County. In 1982 they retired but remained on the farm until 1999 when they moved to Slayton. He and Kathryn spent 17 winters in Harlington, TX, which they truly loved. Kathryn passed away on May 26, 2000. Clarence remained in their home until 2014 when he became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Slayton. In 2019 Clarence moved to the Valley View Manor in Lamberton, MN. Where he passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 104. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Oder of Foresters. Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.
Survivors include his four sons and their spouses, Duane and Mary Eich of Farmington, MN, Dennis and Jean Eich of Eagan, MN, Gary and Jean Eich of Slayton, MN, and Greg Eich of Farmington, MN, daughter-in-law, Mary Eich of Sioux Falls, SD, 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Laverne and Myrtle Eich of Rapid City, SD. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathryn, son, Keith Eich, daughter-in-law, Jackie Eich, three great-grandchild, Jacob McKernon, Bailey Eich, and Shelby Eich, three siblings and their spouses, Dorothy and Carl Bartcher, Lawrence and Irene Eich, and Norbert and Elaine Eich.
In an effort to keep everyone safe a private family service will held at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton on Friday, November 27, 2020 with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating. The organist is Judy Andrew. The pallbearers are his grandchildren. Interment is at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Ann’s Church in Slayton.
Per MN Executive Order, masks will be required and social distancing and occupancy limits are to be followed.
