Darlene Rosella Gehl

Darlene Gehl, the daughter of Gerhard and Hulda (Preuss) Beeck, was born on February 22, 1932 in Elk Twp., Nobles Co., MN. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. Darlene attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1950. Darlene was united in marriage to Herbert Gehl on April 27, 1953 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived in Fulda. She was a housewife until becoming dietary aid at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda until her retirement in 1985. Darlene passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda at the age of 88. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She served as secretary of the Lutheran Sewing Guild and a past member of the evening LWML. More recently she helped to make quilts for the Orphan Grain Train. Darlene enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Her family was very important her.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Lyle (Merna) Beeck and Bernie (Lila) Beeck; 3 sisters, Ione Nuemann, Isabelle (Larry) Koster and Evie Beck; stepson, Gene (Zita) Gehl; Alan; step grandchildren, Alan and Marc Gehl; 3 step great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert Gehl, brother, Lester Beeck and sisters, Irene Schurr, Vi Christensen and Elaine Ruesch and an infant brother. 

Funeral Services

A private family service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fulda, MN with Rev. Shawn Ethridge officiating.  The organist is Loretta Gehl. The soloist is Pam Beckmann. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
