In Loving Memory of
David Dean Swanson
David Swanson was born on January 28, 1942, in Slayton Minnesota to Clarence and Ruth Priebe Swanson. He grew up on the family farm north of Slayton and attended Slayton High School. On September 27, 1959, he and Neva Kepler were married at the Slayton Presbyterian Church. Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm north Slayton until 1970 when they moved to Slayton. David worked as a heavy equipment operator before joining the Murray County Highway Department in 1985. David retired in 2007. David passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, with his family by his side at the age of 81. He was a member of the Slayton Presbyterian Church. David was active in the Tracy Sportsman Club, Beaver Creek Archery, and the Windom Area Sportsman Club. David enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, trapping, car racing, boxing, archery and being on the lakes with his boys.
Survivors include his wife, Neva Swanson of Slayton, MN, four children, Anita Ruppert and her husband, John of Currie, MN, Todd Swanson and Karen Schmidt of Slayton, MN, Jeff Swanson and his wife, Wendy of Avoca, MN, and Jim Swanson and his wife, Terri of Hadley, MN, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three siblings, Carol Corwin of Windom, MN, Joe Swanson and his wife, Bev of Fergus Falls, MN and Linda Sanow and her husband, Larry of Hills, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Michael Swanson and bother-in-law, Larry Corwin.
