In Loving Memory of
David “Dave” Raymond Herrig
Dave Herrig was born on August 4, 1954, in Slayton, Minnesota to Raymond and Agnes Crowley Herrig. He grew up on the family farm south of Slayton. Dave attended St. Columba Catholic Grade School in Iona, MN, and later Slayton High School graduating in 1973. Dave then attended Worthington Community College. On September 11, 1976, he and Janet Braun were married at St. Columba Church in Iona. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Slayton area until settling on the Herrig family farm where they raised their four children. Dave farmed and was a Professional Sheep Shearer. He also worked at Slayton Discount Liquor (only for the conversation). Dave retired in 2017. Throughout Dave’s life he loved any fair that included a Sheep Show where his children or grandchildren could show off his flock. Dave loved to visit and share a good story or two with family, friends, or a new friend that he just met. Dave passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton at the age of 70. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton where he served as greeter, usher, and ticket taker for the fall bazaar. Dave served on the Murray County Fair Board for over 30 years.
