Dolores Mary Vaske

Dolores Vaske was born March 1, 1930 in Bristol, Rhode Island to Joseph and Lucy Borges Almeida.  She grew up in Bristol and attended Bristol High School.  On October 25, 1947 she and Virgil Vaske were married in Bristol.  Following their marriage farmed near St. Kilian, MN and raised their nine children.  In 1979 they retired and moved to Slayton.  Dolores worked at the Slayton Manor as a CNA for several years.  Following their retirement they started spending their winters in Yuma, AZ.  Virgil passed away on February 10, 2007.  Dolores remained in their home and continued to winter in Yuma. On October 22, 2020 when due to failing health Dolores moved to the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.  She passed away there on November 16, 2020 at the age of 90.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN.  Dolores enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, gardening, flowers, playing Bingo and going on the occasional trip to an area casino.

Survivors include her eight children and their spouses, Deb and Larry Meyer of Slayton, MN, Cliff and Linda Vaske of Nicollet, MN, Chuck and Rita Vaske of Wilmont, MN, Cordell and Deb Vaske of Fairmont, MN, Randy and Mary Vaske of Hugo, MN, Curt and Tammy Vaske of St. Kilian, MN, Roger and LeAnn Vaske of Springfield, MN, and Gary Vaske and Julie of Elkhorn, NE, 28 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil, son, Dana Vaske, daughter-in-law, Michelle Vaske, granddaughter, Amber Vaske and 10 siblings.

Funeral Services

St. Ann’s Church in Slayton on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Jim Callahan officiating.  The organist is Judy Andrews.  The pallbearers are Clint Vaske, Christopher Vaske, Cory Vaske, Tony Vaske, Tyler Vaske, and Nick Vaske.  Interment is at St. Kilian Cemetery in St. Kilian, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.  

Per MN Executive Order, masks will be required and social distancing and occupancy limits are to be followed.
