Donald Lauren “Harv” Harvey
Harv Harvey was born on October 7, 1945, in Long Beach, California to Donald and Constance Christensen Harvey. In 1946 the family moved to Valley Springs, SD later moving to Ortonville, MN in 1949 and in 1953 they settled in Slayton, MN. Harv graduated from Slayton High School in 1964 and went on to attended Mankato State. On December 21, 1968, he and Linda Johnson were married at the Congregational Church in Moorhead, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton where Harv owned and operated with his father Don Harvey Motor Company in Slayton, MN. He retired in 1999. Harv keep busy in his retirement helping Mark Freese in the spring and fall of the year with farm work and captaining the Why Knot cruise ship on Lake Shetek. Harv passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his home at the age of 78. Harv enjoyed watching old westerns, drag racing, dirt bikes, jet skiing, boating, snowmobiling, and hunting anything, deer, elk, antelope, wild boar, pheasants, duck, and prairie dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Harvey of Slayton, MN, son, Scot Harvey and his wife, Traci of Sioux Falls, SD, four grandchildren, Katlyn and her special friend Ash, Ethan and his wife, Kailey, Shay and Sean, one great-granddaughter, Cora May and other family, Jimmy, Susan, Gail and Gene, Bill and Sarah, Andrew, Benita, and Chris and John. He is preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Macy Jo.
Funeral Services
First Reformed Church in Slayton on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Mark Carlson Officiating. The pallbearers are Shay Thomas, Sean Robert, Ethan Stephan and Katlryn Jean. The honorary pallbearers are Bobby Schwartz and James McCoy. A private interment will be held in Sioux Falls, SD.
