Donna Lou Karschnik
Donna Karschnik, the daughter of Fred and Reka (Schmidt) Legler, was born on November 20, 1934 in rural Dundee, MN. She grew up on the farm and attended country school and graduated from Fulda High School in 1952. She then attended Secretarial School in Minneapolis before returning home to help her parents on the farm. Donna was united in marriage to Willard Karschnik on May 20, 1955 at the First Lutheran Church in Dundee. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Dundee and later moved into Dundee. She worked at Sather’s, New Dawn and the Worthington Regional Hospital in Food Service. Donna passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 87. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dundee where she was very active and involved with the ladies aid and quilting. Donna was also a member of the Dundee Birthday Club. She also belonged to the Dundee American Legion Auxiliary for 53 years and had served as treasurer. Donna was known for making the potato salad for the Bullhead feeds in Dundee. Donna enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, computer games, knitting and crocheting. Donna loved helping people and was always there to lend a hand.
Survivors include her 5 children, Jerry (Patty) Karschnik of St. Paul, MN, Sharon (Kraig) Leopold of Heron Lake, MN, Brenda (Tony) Evangelista of Mansfield, TX, Kurt (Joy) Karschnik of Sioux Falls, SD and Kent Karschnik of Dundee, MN; 7 grandchildren; 2 siblings, Verilyn (Shirley) Legler of Adrian, MN and Marlin Legler of Grand Island, NE and special friend Don Baschke of Milford, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 siblings, Ivadell Reinert and Lyle Legler.
Funeral Services
First Lutheran Church Dundee, MN at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 with Rev. Lance Isaacson officiating. The organist is Norma Dittman. The pallbearers are her grandchildren. A private interment will be held at a later date at Dundee Lutheran Cemetery Dundee, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
