Edna Marie Voss

Edna Voss was born on April 20, 1920 in Lismore, Minnesota to Jacob and Amelia Gunderson Matson.  She grew up on the family farm north of Lismore until the family moved to a farm north of Hadley, MN in 1933.  Edna graduated from Slayton High School in 1938.  On January 4, 1944 she and Henry Voss were married at her parents home.  Following their marriage they farmed near Hadley and raised their family.  In 1976 they retired but remained on the farm.  Henry passed away on January 7, 1992.  In 1995 Edna moved to Slayton where she lived until 2016 when she moved to the Slayton Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Following it’s closing Edna moved to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, MN where she passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 100.  She was a member of the Hadley Lutheran Church in Hadley, MN.  She had previously been a Sunday school teacher, Ladies Aid President and part of the Quilting group.  Edna volunteered many hours to the Murray County Hospice Program, Senior Citizens and the First Grade Reading Program.   Edna enjoyed visiting, walking, volunteering, traveling, sewing, reading, quilting and life on the farm.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, June and Robert Buldhaupt of Hadley, MN, Robert and Nancy Voss of Denton, TX, Betty and David Haberle of St. Cloud, MN, and Keith and Kathy Voss of Willmar, MN, son-in-law, Donald Buldhaupt of Pipestone, MN, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry, daughter, Joyce Buldhaupt, grandson, Todd Voss and Mark Buldhaupt, two brothers, Ted Matson and Olaf Matson and sister, Enger Kruse.

A private graveside services will be at the Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton, MN on Thursday, September 3, 2020 with Rev. Robert Ossefoort officiating.  The pallbearers will be her family.
