In Loving Memory of
Eleene Kathryne Gorman
Eleene Gorman was born on July 1,1928 to Edward and Kathryne Deutschman in Dovray, MN. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1946 and was editor of the school yearbook The Tracy Teton. Eleene married Joseph B. Gorman, the love of her life, on October 11, 1947. They were married for 57 years and were blessed with 6 children, 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Eleene was manager of Burklands Style Shop for 25 years and served on the Slayton Chamber of Commerce throughout that time. She was active in both St. Rose of Lima Church (Avoca) and St. Ann’s Catholic Church (Slayton). Eleene was Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters in Southwest Minnesota. Eleene always gave of herself. She volunteered at St. Rose of Lima and St. Ann’s too many times to count, and she was always there to support family, friends, and strangers in times of need. She loved to travel domestically and internationally with Joe, and when pressed admitted that her favorite country to visit was Spain. Her most perilous trip, however, may have been Ireland as she managed to kiss the Blarney Stone (with a little help from grandson Dan). Her Irish husband Joe would have been proud! Eleene passed away on April 26, 2025, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, MN. She was a five-time breast and uterine cancer survivor.
Survivors include five children and their families: Joanne Sexton, Fairbanks, AK; Leslie Gorman, Edina, MN; Kevin and Deanna Gorman, Kirkland, WA; James and Theresa Gorman, West St. Paul, Tim & Liz Gorman Norton Shores, MI; Peggy and Doug Quam, White Bear Lake, MN. Eleene is preceded in death by her parents Edward & Kathryne Deutschman, her husband Joseph, her eldest son Charles Joseph, and her brother Jim Kerr.
Visitation is April 30, 2025, St. Ann’s Church from 9:00-10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Peter Schuster will preside along with Reverend Cyril Gorman and Deacon David Flynn. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, Minnesota. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. To send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
