Elizabeth Brock

Elizabeth Brock, the daughter of Ora and Walter Denney, was born on April 29, 1933 in Fulda, Minnesota. She grew up in Fulda and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1951.  Elizabeth met her future husband while attending Fulda High School with the pair going on their first date the night of graduation. Elizabeth completed some collegiate coursework in St. Paul at Macalester College until her marriage to Dale Brock on November 21, 1952. Following their marriage, they lived in Fulda on an acreage.
Elizabeth and Dale had three daughters together. Following the addition of the children, Elizabeth was a homemaker while the girls were growing up and beyond.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda where she was a member for several years. She was also very active with the Fulda Senior Citizen Center. She and Dale would deliver Meals on Wheels, set the dining room tables, serve meals and assist with the cleanup.  In the later years, Elizabeth enjoyed traveling with Dale to Santa Barbara, California, and up north to their trailer home on Leech Lake. Elizabeth enjoyed collecting spoons from various states and thimbles from their travels.
Elizabeth became a resident of the Zumbrota Nursing Home following a short move to an apartment in Kasson, MN. She enjoyed participating in the various weekly recreational activities at the nursing home such as church services, bingo, crafts and having her nails done. Elizabeth took pride in having her hair done weekly while residing in Fulda and appreciated whenever she could in Zumbrota. Elizabeth also enjoyed dining out with friends at Dovray Manor while in Fulda. After her move to Zumbrota, she continued the enjoyment of dining out at the Hubbell House in Mantorville in recent years.
Elizabeth passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, at the age of 90. Survivors include her three children and their families, Lisa (Brian) Grothe of Fulda, MN, (Tonya and Eric Bumgardner-Ian and Evan), (Stacy Riley-Skylyr ), Julie (Gary) Johnson of Sauk Rapids, MN, (Amber and Jeremy Stowe-Kira and Eli), (Aaron and Amy Johnson-Trinity, Tegan, Tierney, Tenley and Tallulah), (Adam and Taylor Johnson-Ellen and Eugene), (Austin and Rachael Johnson-Hudson) and Deb (Dave) Thill of Kasson, MN, (Jeremy Thill) (Jen and Luke Hanson-Brayden, Caroline, and Eloise). She is preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Walter Denney, her husband, Dale, and great-granddaughter, Caroline Hanson.

Funeral Services

First Presbyterian Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2023, with Pastor Aaron Punt officiating.  The organist is Norma Meyeraan. Special music by Marcia Hubner, Marla Anderson, and Brenda Bengtson. The pallbearers are Eric Bumgardner, Ian Bumgardner, Evan Bumgardner, Luke Hanson, Jeremy Stowe, Aaron Johnson, Adam Johnson, and Austin Johnson. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
