In Loving Memory of
Frances Martha Guild
Frances Guild was born on March 14, 1924, on the family farm near Avoca, Minnesota to John and Rose Legler Magnus. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. On August 3, 1940, she and Clarence Guild were married in Avoca. Following their marriage, they farmed east of Avoca and later moved to a farm near Lake Wilson, MN. In 1960 they moved to Worthington, MN. Frances work at HyVee in Worthington until 1991 when she moved to Slayton. Clarence passed away in September 1980. Retirement was short lived for Frances as she took a job at Nordins SuperValu working until the age of 93. Frances passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Our House Hospice Home in Slayton at the age of 97. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton where she was a member of the quilting group and the ladies aid. She also was a member of the Avoca Friendship Club and the Slayton American Legion Auxiliary. Frances was a hard worker, a friend to all, and loved by all. She enjoyed spending time with family and her dog Shelby, fishing, crocheting, knitting, playing pinnacle, traveling, and the occasional bus trip to a casino.
Survivors include her four children; Arnold Guild of Slayton, MN, Eileen Renken and husband, Bob of Sibley, IA, Margie Jenson of Slayton, MN, and Gary Guild and his wife, Mary of Sun Prairie, WI; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Vogel of Currie, MN, Mary Lund of Luverne, MN, Dorothy Balfanz of Dundee, MN, and Rosie Rogers of Worthington, MN. This is not goodbye but see you later! She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence, son, Paul Guild, daughter-in-law, Marie Guild, grandson, Jeffrey Guild, three brothers, Clarence, Frank and John P. Magnus, and two sisters, Helen Haack and Verna Bruce.
Funeral Services
Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Harlen Kaden officiating with special music by Pat Onken, Norm Meyeraan and Kathy Magnus. The pallbearers are Luke Woitaszewski, Jed Woitaszewski, Kyle Cochran, Brian Renken, Mike Jenson, Rick Guild, Dan Guild, and Danielle Diamond. Interment is at Slayton Memorial gardens, Slayton, MN.
