Gene Kirchner

Gene Joseph Kirchner, the son of Arthur and Marie (Schnieder) Kirchner, was born on December 24, 1954, in Slayton, MN. He grew up on the family farm near Avoca, MN. Gene attended school in Fulda and graduated from the Fulda High School in 1972. He lived on the farm while farming with his brother, Earl. Gene passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his home in rural Fulda at the age of 71. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. Gene enjoyed going to farm machinery auctions, playing cards and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his 4 sisters, Elaine (Wayne) Fenicle of Pipestone, MN, Jane (Dennis) Plaetz of Lucan, MN, Arlene (Gene) Bloemendaal of Pipestone, MN and Rita Kirchner of Slayton, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl.

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN, at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with Fr. Jordan Danielson celebrating. The organist is Dana Hogan. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
