In Loving Memory of
Gerald James Fuerstenberg
Gerald James Fuerstenberg, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many, passed away July 12, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on November 18, 1957, to Remigius (Bob) and Dona (Fuhrman) Fuerstenberg in Worthington, MN. He fought hard for 2 years and 7 months with Glioblastoma and died peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunset Hospice Cottage, Worthington, MN. He met his lovely wife Linda (Sauer) at a high school dance in Fulda, MN and was blessed with 47 years of marriage. They were married April 16, 1977, at St. Kilian Catholic Church. He had three brown eyed daughters, Amy, Jodi, and Gina who he loved watching grow and become beautiful ladies. Following graduation from Adrian High School, he attended Jackson Vocational Tech for a year then started at Bedford Industries where he obtained his master’s Electrical license. He worked for Oxford Labs as an electrician for a few years before working at MNDOT in Windom, MN from 1994 until a farming accident in 2008. Gerald was very proud to move his family to the family farm in 1999, which has been in the family since 1936. Keeping the history alive and being on the farm brought him great joy. Although he had passion for farm life, being able to watch his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews grow and teach them all he knew brought him the greatest joy. Most days he would spend time cruising down the gravel road in the ranger checking on the cows, crops, and enjoying peaceful views of the land. Hosting many different events at the farm; family gatherings, celebrating the farm’s 80th year, and hosting the Rural Life Mass Celebration (2021) were some of his greatest moments on the farm. Over the years Gerald was proud to serve in church and volunteering within the communities where he lived. His fondest memories were going to Europe for their 25th wedding anniversary, spending summers boating, skiing, campfires, vacationing in Florida, watching rockets go off at Space Center, and driving the mustang convertible around touring wineries with the best of friends.
He is survived by his wife Linda; Three children, Amy (Bradlee) Burdick, Jodi Fuerstenberg, Gina Graff; Five grandchildren: Mariah, Dylan, Cody, Wyatt, Fynlee; Three sisters: Marilyn Winter, Colleen Jansma, Cheryl Nelson (Kenny Will); Four Brothers: Wesley (Deb), Bruce (Janet Speckmier), Dennis (Donna), Gary (Karen) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Remigius & Dona; brothers Remigius and Joseph; Father and Mother-in-law, three Brother-in-laws and a sister-in law and several nephews and a niece.
