Jaclyn “Jackie” Clarice Linder

Jackie Linder was born on March 21, 1940, in Worthington, Minnesota to Clarence and Adelia Schmicking Wahl.  She grew up in Worthington and graduated from Worthington High School in 1958.  Jackie then attended Presentation School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, SD graduating in 1962.  On December 20, 1962, she and Earle “Fred” Linder were married in Worthington.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Worthington where Jackie worked at the Worthington Medical Center as an RN for 17 years.  She then went to work at the Medicine Shoppe in Worthington for 24 years.  Jackie and Earle also ran a CB business in Worthington for 25 years.  Then in 1982 they moved to Slayton, MN and purchased the NAPA business which they ran until 2010 when they sold the business.  While running NAPA they also had an awards business making trophies and plaques.  Earle passed away on January 23, 2011.    Jackie stayed busy singing with the Love Notes for 23 years, volunteering at Slayton Senior Dinning and helping with church activities. Jackie loved the outdoors and all its adventures like, water sports, boating, fishing, ice skating, and snowmobiling. She and Earle were member of the Frosty Riders Snowmobile Club in Worthington and the Slayton Driftbreakers.  She was an avid racing fan working many years at the Murray County Speedway.  She was affectionately known as the ice cream lady and later the beer lady.  In 2017 she was inducted into the Murray County Racing Association Hall of Fame.  Jackie worked at the Murray County Fair for over 25 years in the open class culinary department.  She won many ribbons in crafts and baking.  Due to failing health Jackie moved to Sunset Cottage in Worthington on July 7, 2026.  She passed away there on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 86.  Jackie was an active member of the Slayton Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, was President of the Ladies Aid and provided help whenever it was needed.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, knitting, crocheting, and sewing.  Jackie was an avid Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves fan. 

Survivors include, her brother-in-law, Gary Linder, nephew, Jeff and Jen Linder and family, niece, Julie and Craig Runksmeier and family, sister-in-law, Pat Remme, adopted son, Kurt and Linda Johnson and family, nephew, Brett and Mary Wahl and family, and niece, Stacy and Mark Slettum and family, great nieces and nephews and their families, and many amazing friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earle, brother, Donald Wahl and his wife, Florence, and brother-in-law, John Remme.

Funeral Services

Slayton Presbyterian Church in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Galen Smith officiating.  The organist is Kathy Magnus with special music by Sue Muck.  The pallbearers are Gerry McCord, Denny Lickness, Rick Parker, Randy Martins, Bud Kooiman, Branch Haken and Bruce Haken.  Interment is at Worthington Memorial Gardens in Worthington, MN. 

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sunset Cottage and all of Jackie’s amazing friends.
