Jacob Allen Kathman
Jacob Kathman was born on July 24, 1998, in Marshall, Minnesota to Mark and Angela Morson Kathman. Jacob grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 2020. That same year the family moved to a home on Lake Shetek near Slayton, MN. Jacob loved spending time with his family, best friend, and caregiver Angie Buchert. Jacob was a foodie he enjoyed food not only out of hunger and necessity but also as a hobby. Music was another thing that brought joy, comfort, and connection to Jacob. Jacob passed away at the Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 27. Jacob found joy in the simple things in life, spending time with his family and cats, quiet time to himself and all genres of T.V.
Survivors include his parents, Mark and Angie Kathman of Slayton, MN, sister, Laney Kathman at home, paternal grandmother, Linda and Steve Lange of Slayton, MN, maternal grandmother, Elie Morson of Marshall, MN, three uncles and one aunt, Dave and Amy Kathman of Hadley, MN, Lance Lange of Mankato, MN, Shiloh and Dean Johnson of Montevideo, MN, and Brent and Jessie Morson of Brookings, SD, several cousins and best friend, Angie Buchert of Marshall, MN. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Terry Kathman, maternal grandfather, Ted Morson, and uncle, Troy Lange.
The honorary pallbearers will be Brent Morson, Dave Kathman, Lance Lange, and Jason Carlson.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN from 4-6 p.m. Interment will be private. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements. To view online obituary and send condolences visit totzkefuneralhome.com
