James Lawrence Healy
Jim Healy was born on July 9, 1947, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Cliff and Joyce Jorgenson Healy. He grew up in South Dakota and Minnesota. On June 16, 1967, he and Joyce Dumos were married at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Illinois. Jim worked for Williams, White and Company then John Deere Foundry and later John Deere Harvester retiring in 2007. Together he and Joyce raised cattle and Quarter Horses. They enjoyed traveling to watch their horses perform in Cutting Horse Shows across the country. Jim was especially proud of their stallion Smart and Mad. In 2015 they decided to return to Minnesota and purchased Joyce’s family home. Jim had a strong work ethic and a true love of family. Jim passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Friday, September 15, 2023. at the age of 76. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially ice fishing. His granddaughters were the light of his life, and he was so looking forward to spending time with his new great grandson, Brayden James Laymon.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Healy of Avoca, MN two children, Tammy Harrison and her husband, Wayne of Carbon Cliff, IL and Jeff Healy of Avoca, MN, two granddaughters, Megan Laymon and her husband, Levi of Letts, IA, and Kayla Harrison of East Moline, IL, one great-grandson, Brayden Laymon, two sisters, LaNiece Healy and Star O’Brian both of Sioux Falls, SD, and one nephew, Eric Watson of Sioux Falls, SD. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Mike Healy.
Memorial Services
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray, MN on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Stephanie Swanson officiating. The organist is Maydra Maas. Interment is at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dovray, MN.
